General
Polgaver beach is part of Carlyon Bay near Par and is privately owned,
forming part of the the former Cornish Leisure World / Cornwall Coliseum
complex - which is now in the process of being re-developed.
June 2003:
Polgaver beach has definitely now died......... Ampersand (the developers)
have visited the site and set up their show home on the beach. The Chief
Executive went there as well and made it quite clear that NO NATURIST
EVENTS will take place from now on.

Access & Parking
Cornish Leisure World can easily be found off the A3082 between
St.Austell and Fowey. At Holmbush take a right turn and follow the signs
to Carlyon Bay. The entrance is down a very steep road, at the bottom of
which you will find the car park attendant. Parking charges are, it is
said, 'frighteningly expensive but you have no choice'. At least entrance
to the beach itself is free. The walk to the beach is shorter if you turn
left and drive as far as possible before parking.
Description
Polgaver Bay is some way east of the leisure complex and consists of
fifteen acres of white sand, backed by vegetation, dunes and - at the far
end - cliffs. These cliffs are said to be crumbling, with periodic falls -
you are strongly advised not to sit under them! Contrary to some reports
the beach is available at all time, not just 10.00-18.00hours. Some
sources suggest that there may, at times, be a problem with 'sightseers'
who can overlook the beach form the exclusive Carlyon Bay golf course on
the clifftop. Trees and bushes provide shelter from the curious onlookers.
Facilities
The CLW has just about every facility you could call to mind, but, any
form of refreshment is a good 20 minutes walk away from the nude beach -
so take the bottled water with you!
Water Quality
Said to achieve the higher EEC standard.
Camping: A small naturist camping area may be available at the nearby Bethesda Farm Camping Park.
Trip Report - August 2002
"My wife and I have just returned from Cornwall after a weekend
break, we used Polgaver beach regulary up until I left the RAF in 1997.
Hoping to meet up with long lost friends (locals) we found very few people
using the beach during our visit, we put this down to the inclement
weather.
Although one carpark used by sun lovers was over grown we did not think the beach was off limits, as there were no signs diplayed to say otherwise they still charged me for parking!!!. The person taking the money made no mention the beach was closed to naturists.
All the visits we made over the years,we never witnessed any bad behaviuor"
