'Naturism is a way of living in harmony with nature, characterized by social nudity, that aims at increasing self-respect, respect for others and for the environment.' - and it's fun too!
The practice of social nudity - 'nudism' - originated in Germany early
this century.
Its development came at a time when many had begun to rebel against the
rigid moral attitudes of the 19th Century.
Promoted for its health benefits, nudism spread throughout Europe after
the First World War, but remained confined to secluded beaches and 'sun
clubs' - with strict rules of conduct.
In more recent times, relaxed attitudes to nudity in the media and elsewhere, and the increasing number of Britons travelling abroad, has given many people the chance to try the experience of swimming and sunbathing without clothes.
Once past the momentary shock of 'baring all' in public for the first time, they discover that naturism (as nudism has come to be known) is a wonderfully liberating experience. Being nude in the outdoors is truly exhilarating. To feel a breeze, the warmth of the sun or the cool water of the ocean caressing your entire body is one of the greatest pleasures life can offer.
When all clothing is removed social barriers fall away.
The philosophy of 'body acceptance' helps naturists to look beyond outward appearances and accept one another for what they truly are.
Naturists know that there is no such thing as the 'perfect' body - real
people come in all shapes and sizes, all ages and conditions - all are
accepted and welcomed. Naturism helps one to reach out for true friendship
and cameraderie. When you become a naturist, you are someone unsual and
special.
Naturism is undeniably a sensual experience, but it is not about sex. Nor is it about voyeurism or exhibitionism. Naturists are no more sex-obsessed than anyone else in society. There is much greater potential for titillation on a beach where skimpy swimsuits emphasise those parts of the body they barely conceal. By comparison, mere nudity is not very arousing.
At a typical naturist beach or resort you'll find friendly and outgoing
people who enjoy life and accept each other as individuals.
- people of all ages and backgrounds..
- people of different races, religions and ideals..
- people who enjoy being in the sunshine and fresh air, sharing the
pleasure with families and friends, lovers and companions..
- people just like you, in fact!
